The all-inclusive program provides the student with 25 hours of in-class and 10 hours of in-car sessions. We offer ONLINE theory classes 24/7
Our program is a recognized Driver Education Program by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal Nova Scotia, to exit the GDL system (obtain a full driving license). Our Complete Driver Training Program consists of both theory and in-car sessions.
Theory:
Students spend 25 hours in theory classes. The Curriculum is user-friendly, easy to follow, and designed to help prepare students for their behind-the-wheel lessons. The course contents are supported by video clips. The classes are followed by quizzes/tests to ensure their understanding of the course contents. These classes enable the students to apply the knowledge obtained in the practical driving portion of the program.
In-car lessons:
In-car lessons are one-on-one using our dual brake system vehicle for training. We pick up at home, school, or work within HRM (Some exceptions apply). All instructors are highly qualified. As industry leaders, they receive continuous refresher courses and meet standards beyond provincial requirements.
Our instructors will teach the following skills:
– Knowing the vehicle
– Moving and stopping on the curbside
– Driving through controlled and uncontrolled intersections
– Freeway/Highway driving
– Emergency maneuvers behind the wheel
– City driving strategies
– Risk perceptions
– Night driving
Students can use our certified car for their road test when they are ready.
Fee: $86 + tax
Our Defensive Driving Course (DDC) / Driver Improvement Course (DIC) is a recognized program by the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal Nova Scotia. This program consists of 6 hours of ONLINE in-class sessions.
This is an interactive course, which prepares students to deal with any challenging situation during driving. It enhances driver skills to identify and assess any problem within the vehicle or in their surroundings while driving. Students learn how to deal with such situations. Anger management and preventing Drinking & Driving tools are key components of the course content.
This course lays out the foundation of Thinking Driver’s Five Fundamentals of defensive driving principles and practices: our core techniques and tips that help minimize risk and prevent incidents despite conditions and other drivers while delving into the internal processes that can influence a driver’s choice to take unnecessary risks.
Drivers will learn:
– What attitude is and how it affects their driving
– How to shift attitudinal gears from risky driving attitudes to positive ones
– How your risk tolerance changes with emotional states and how to reduce risk
– To deal with aggression from other drivers without retaliation
– How to avoid being drawn into competition and confrontational situations while driving
– How to use the Five Fundamentals:
– Think and look ahead
– Anticipate hazards
– Keep your options open
– Manage the risk
– Control with finesse
Fee structure:
– 90 minutes of driving lessons: $75 + tax
– 5 hours of driving lessons: $250 + tax
– 10 hours of driving lessons: $500 + tax
Best package for individuals who need a refresher on their core driving skills or if you need to gain more experience on the road.
This program includes:
– Free home, work, or school pickup
– One-on-one in-vehicle training
Fee: $99 + tax
This is a minimum 2 hours package. We will pick the student, or meet at Access NS, and have a test prep talk. We provide the student with our vehicle which is installed with a dual brake system, for road tests.
